Getting Your Free API Key

Visit Google AI Studio

Go to aistudio.google.com in your browser.

Click Get Started or Sign In and use your Google account.No credit card required!

Create an API key

Click Get API key in the left sidebar or top navigation
Click Create API key
Choose a project or create a new one
Click Create API key in new project (or existing project)
Copy the generated API key immediately

Add key to Stenox

Open Stenox Settings
Go to AI Enhancement tab
Select Google Gemini as provider
Paste your API key
Choose your model (Gemini 2.5 Flash recommended)
Click Save

Keep your API key secure! Don’t share it or commit it to public repositories. Treat it like a password.

Latest experimental model:

Configuration in Stenox

Open Stenox Settings

Click Stenox menu bar icon → Settings

Go to AI Enhancement tab

Select the AI Enhancement tab

Select Google Gemini

Choose Google Gemini from the provider dropdown

Enter API key

Paste your API key from aistudio.google.com

Choose model

Select Gemini 2.5 Flash (recommended)

Optional: Add custom prompt

Configure enhancement behavior (see Custom Prompts section below)

Save

Click Save to activate Google Gemini

Troubleshooting

API key invalid or not working

Ensure you copied the complete key (no spaces)
Verify API key is active in Google AI Studio

Wait a few minutes (for per-minute limit)
